About us

A small group of parents, quietly making the year better.

No fundraising quotas, no guilt-trips at the door. Just families pitching in so that every Eagle gets a school year worth remembering.

Our mission
Edgewater students with their hands in the air during a school assembly

“Supporting our school any way we can. We work together to create fun and engaging events for our students, provide snacks and special gifts for all staff, and partner with the Edgewater Community to boost our school spirit.”

The Edgewater Elementary PTO is a volunteer parent-teacher organization serving the PreK–5 families of Edgewater Elementary in Edgewater, Maryland. We fund and run the things that don't fit in a school budget line — the fun run, the dance, the coffee in the staff lounge on a hard Tuesday.

Everything we raise stays here, at this school, for these kids and the adults who spend their days with them.

How we help

Three groups, one school.

Students

The days they remember

  • Boosterthon fun run, including the 4th–5th grade color run
  • Sweetheart Dance, Bowling Night, Trivia Night
  • Holiday and school spirit weeks
  • Spring Fest to close out the year
Staff

The people doing the work

  • Snacks and treats in the staff lounge all year
  • Teacher Appreciation Week — breakfast, raffles, ice cream
  • “Teacher favourites” lists so gifts actually land
  • Support for cultural arts and support staff too
Community

The wider Edgewater

  • International Night celebrating our families' cultures
  • Gold, silver and bronze local business sponsorships
  • Eagles spirit wear that shows up all over town
  • A place for new families to meet everyone else

Amanda Phillippi
Thank you

Amanda Phillippi

Past President

Amanda led this PTO for the past few years and we are genuinely grateful for everything she put into it — the events, the volunteers, the hundred small things nobody sees. She's stepping back from the board this year, but you'll still see her around while she helps Phyllis settle into the role.

Thank you, Amanda. From all of us.

Wear the gear

Spirit wear orders support the PTO directly, and a hallway full of navy and gold does something for a kid.
